Anxiety disorder is a collective term for mental disorders that are either characterized by unspecific, undirected anxiety (generalized anxiety disorder) or by a specific phobia with regard to an object or situation. All anxiety disorders have in common that those affected by it have a strong anxiety with regard to objects where people without anxiety disorder would not experience any anxiety or fear or only to a much lesser degree.
